On November 14th, 2014, We Received EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) Approval (Approval Notice) for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Biophysics
General Field: Biophysics
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher
Country of Origin: Iran
Service Center: Nebraska Service Center (NSC)
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Washington
Approval Notice Date: November 14th, 2014
Processing Time: 4 Months, 11 Days
Case Summary:
Our client in this case was a postdoctoral biophysicist from Iran who worked particularly on biomedical imaging, image processing, optics, spectroscopy, modeling, and the physical properties of water, with particular positive impact on the field of ophthalmology. Given the importance of eye health to the populace at large and the notable influence of our client’s work on the field, we were able to show that his continued employment in his field would be beneficial to his colleagues and to the nation as a whole. His highly significant contributions included 13 peer-reviewed journal articles in illustrious internationally-circulated journals, which had received at least 133 citations from independent researchers worldwide at the time we filed his case. The importance of his work was upheld by an independent recommender: “[Client] was the first person to image the IOSs from all retinal layers in an animal model. The results of this study have been extremely important for understanding how to use new technology for early detection of retinal diseases. Creating less expensive and better, more efficient healthcare in the United States has been a top-priority governmental issue for decades.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in four months and eleven days.
