General Field: Computer Engineering

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Research Assistant

Country of Origin: Indonesia

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Maryland

Approval Notice Date: September 25th, 2021

Processing Time: 11 months, 2 days

Case Summary:

Our client, a research assistant researching related to the development of advanced processors has great substantial merit and national importance. Among other applications, his research is relevant to the integration of machine learning and big data and the development of advanced wearable technology. His research advancing his proposed endeavor is of great importance because his findings are essential for advancing the application of machine learning to big data operations and his work is intensely valuable for global economic development and the success of many global fields.

  • His proposed endeavor is to continue to use advanced computer engineering and machine learning methodologies to develop and deploy advanced processors that have applications in wearable devices, smart utilities, and innovative infrastructure projects.

When he contacted our law firm, we observed that his academic and professional accomplishments met the required factors to obtain a green card in the NIW (National Interest Waiver) category. Through his research endeavor detailed above it was clear that he represents a considerable asset to the United States.

Secondly, we did a multifactorial evaluation of our client’s education, skills, knowledge, and record of success in related fields; a model or plan for future activities; any progress made towards achieving the proposed endeavor.

  • Evidently, from our client’s M.S. in digital electronic and electrical engineering to his remarkable publication record i.e., the 12 peer-reviewed conference proceeding papers and 1 accepted journal article (5 of them first-authored), gathering 71 citations altogether from several other experts in the field of computer engineering confirmed that our client is very knowledgeable in his field of supremacy.
  • He has also been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for elite journals and conferences in the field and has completed at least 9 peer reviews to date, 4 for academic journals and 2 for academic conferences.

His findings thus enhance the application of wearable technology and artificial intelligence, both of which are highly valuable to businesses throughout the United States. The above factors also demonstrate his strong record of success and his ability to continue his proposed research.

Furthermore, the evidence that North America Immigration Law Group submitted on the client’s behalf also consisted of five letters of recommendation signed by his fellow researchers; two of the letters had the following excerpt into them:

“[Client’s] important work on improving the reliability of wearable electronic devices while reducing their energy output. [Client’s] research on wearable technologies is advantageous to the advancement of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in the United States…. [Client’s] work facilitates the development of IoT technologies in the United States that have direct applications for the medical field, manufacturing, smart cities, and personal technologies.”

“…The sheer magnitude of [client’s] numerous discoveries combined with the impact of his work on the research of his peers constitutes extraordinary achievements. These achievements demonstrate that [client] has surpassed the expectations of a computer engineering researcher by helping increase the effectualness of DNNs and justify the extension of his research efforts in the United States.”

  • Additionally, the client’s research has been supported by funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Army Research Laboratory. This funding is reserved solely for research directed at advancing the national interest, including advancements to the national health, prosperity, welfare, and defense capacity of the United States. The receipt of this funding confirms the national value of his research.

With his professional and academic expertise verified, we moved forward to countersign the retainer agreement. We are thankful that he chose our firm to help him with the entire process of adjudication on his I-40 NIW application. He has retained us for his I-485 application as well. We are certain that his work will continue to prove valuable to the United States of America in the future.
