Case Summary:

The client that we had the pleasure of working with in this case was a Postdoctoral Research Associate from China in the field of materials science.  His specialized research had focused on the failure mechanisms, electrochemical performance, and interface phenomena of lithium-ion battery electrodes.  This work had resulted in at least 16 peer-reviewed scientific articles and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. At the time that his case was filed, these publications been cited at least 124 times, indicating the major significance of his work.  He had also conducted at least 78 paper reviews for journals related to the field of materials science.  The importance of his work to the US was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “The diversity of [his] contributions is vast, and in my expert opinion, the United States requires the continuation of his important research in the fields of physical chemistry and materials science. [His] research is providing a much-needed improvements relating to an improved system for evaluating new materials to be used in the development of lithium-ion batteries, an area of substantial economic value for the United States. Furthermore, because [he] has improved these methods so considerably already, I believe the loss of his research would seriously hinder the United States’ future improvements in this area.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought enter the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States.
