Case Summary:

In this case, the client that we had the opportunity to work with was a Research Associate from China in the field of pulmonology.  His specialized research had focused on molecular mechanisms of lung epithelial cells producing mucus and how these mechanisms affect various chronic pulmonary diseases.  His work had resulted in 17 peer-reviewed scientific articles and numerous presentations at national and international conferences.  At the time that his case was filed, his publications had been cited at least 361 times by independent and leading researchers from prestigious institutions and organizations around the world, indicating the major significance of his work.  He had also reviewed 25 manuscripts for distinctive, internationally-circulated journals.  His superior level of achievement was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that 1 in every 12 people in the United States has asthma, and that number is growing every year, for mostly unknown reasons. Immunology research, then, especially research into pulmonary abnormalities like that conducted by [him], is of the utmost importance if society wants to decrease the incidence of asthma and asthma-related deaths. [He] is at the head of his field in this matter, making groundbreaking and foundational strides in the field’s understanding of lung diseases like asthma. His contributions are routinely the first of their kind in the field, and this kind of innovation and follow-through is a hugely desirable trait in any researcher, let alone one who is working in an area of such dire and widespread subject matter.” It was our goal to prove that our client qualified for classification as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability given that he sought remain in the United States to continue work in the area of extraordinary ability, and that his continued research would substantially and prospectively benefit the United States.
