Case Summary:
The client that North America Immigration Law Group – WeGreened.com had the opportunity to work in this case was a Graduate Research Assistant from Iran. His work had focused specifically on the development of a “lab-on-a-chip” or microfluidic technology called contactless dielectrophoresis (cDEP). In additions to the substantial contributions that he made to the development of this novel technology, he has successfully demonstrated a range of applications for cDEP, including its use to detect and isolate various types of cancer cells and its use to improve drug development and design. We successfully demonstrated that his continued employment in the field would benefit those in his field, as well as the citizens of the United States at large. In order for our client’s case to be successful, we submitted extensive documentation proving his highly significant contributions to his field, including 9 peer-reviewed journal articles and numerous conference papers. His publications had been cited at least 56 times at the time we filed the case; nearly all of the citations were by independent researchers around the world, demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field. The inherit merit of his work was confirmed in the following quote from an independent recommender, “His technique relies on the motion of the cells exposed in non-uniform electric fields, enabling an unprecedented level of sensitivity that gives it the ability to isolate a single cancer cell in a swarm of over one billion blood cells. Because of this high performance and capability, [Client’s] cDEP devices can easily be reconfigured for different cell types, enabling early detection and diagnosis of many types of cancers, as well as that of cells outside the cancer category.” Through extensive documentation, we were able to successfully argue that our client would serve the national interest to a significantly greater degree than others with similar education and experience. His NIW petition was approved in 11 months and 10 days.
