Case Summary:

Our firm has established itself as a reliable name in the field with years of diligent service and thousands of case approvals to boast. So when any client approaches us we already have a strategy in place on how to go about his case preparation. Our experts quickly check on the client’s background information which is then followed by a signing of the attorney-client documents.

One such case came to us in October of 2020. The client was from China and had a Ph.D. in ceramic materials. He was working as a postdoctoral associate in materials science and wanted us to file his NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. As an expert in the field of materials science, his proposed endeavor is to continue his research on developing new materials to improve the performance, safety, and lifespan of batteries, using new synthesis methods and structure designs to optimize their properties. In addition, his proposed endeavor has broad implications for the United States. His improved battery materials, as discussed, contribute to reducing the negative effects of climate change. His advanced battery materials contribute to a rapidly growing industry in the United States. According to a report from McKinsey, the U.S. electric vehicle market doubled in sales in 2018, with 360,000 vehicles sold. This shows that he is providing technology that supports continued growth in a thriving sector of the economy.

This was the reason that he could get letters of recommendation from 4 other experts in the field, all of whom valued his work in the area.

“As such, [client’s] research developing better battery compounds helps to expand the capacity of these and other electric cars. His findings are also relevant to energy supplies, as innovative battery solutions convert electricity from natural resources. This is all to say that [client] has proven his position of leadership within the field of material science beyond a shadow of a doubt, and he will continue to influence the field directly through research and indirectly through citation in his current position.”

“[Client] works on the batteries featured in these cars growing in popularity to ensure that their driving ranges and life cycles increase and that they are safe for sustained use. His research is therefore relevant to both a rapidly expanding American industry and to his peers in materials science. As such, it is imperative that he remain in the US to continue his contributions to the discipline of materials science.”

At the same time, his research has resulted in 48 peer-reviewed journal articles (15 of them first-authored), two filed patents (both first-authored), and two issued patents. Moreover, these papers have been published in the top journals in his field, reflecting his peers’ recognition of the value of this research. Not only has he successfully completed and published the results of his research in the field, but his research has also gone on to influence his peers. That is, his publications have been cited a massive total of 1,251 times according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of materials science. Due to his knowledge and expertise in the field, he has also been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for elite journals in the field, including national and international journals of acclaim. His peer review experience stands at a total of 80 peer reviews to date. Furthermore, we were also able to find evidence of his major funding sources, namely the National Science Foundation, Samsung Co., and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

We are thus not at all surprised to hear of the success of his case. We wish him the very best in life.
