General Field: Electrical Engineering

Approval Notice Date: September 8th, 2016

Case Summary:
A well-known graduate research assistant from Iran hired North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to file an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. Our client, who is based in California, holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and has years of experience working in the same field.
In order to prove to the USCIS that our client deserved the national interest waiver, we collected a wealth of information on his various achievements in the field. We then included this data in his EB-2 NIW petition packet. For instance, we noted the 98 citations gathered from his work and the 3 published scientific articles to his name. We also detailed the various times our client conducted peer reviews for over a dozen distinctive, internationally-circulated journals and conferences.
To further fortify our client’s petition, we included recommendation letters which he had gathered from a handful of his peers. These letters advocated for the approval of his EB-2 NIW petition and contained statements such as these:
“[Client] is a leading scientist in electrical engineering, wireless communications, and information theory.”
“Most impressively, [Client] has a unique combination of expertise in electrical and computer engineering as his work specializes in interference management and spectrum sharing in wireless networks. This rare skillset and research focus demonstrates his marked ability to advance technologies and practices in wireless communications in the U.S. and beyond.”
Perhaps the most important element of our client’s EB-2 NIW petition had to do with his research. As part of our services, we carefully accounted for his work and determined that he is focused specifically on using information theory to deal with the issue of interference and improve spectrum sharing in wireless communications and device-to-device (D2D) networks. We established that our client’s research results have directly contributed to our understanding of how to improve network performance via spectrum sharing and interference management, as well as to the wireless communications, cellular technology, and portable electronics industries. Additionally, his research efforts in reducing network interference are contributing to the United States’ technological sector, wireless infrastructure, and wireless communications programs, all of which impact the military, public safety, and the national economy.
We congratulate our client for obtaining an EB-2 NIW petition approval. We thank him for working with our firm and wish him well as he continues to progress the field of electrical engineering.
