Case Summary:

With a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering and extensive experience conducting research in the field of electrical engineering, our client (an engineer from China) seemed like a good candidate for EB-1B (Outstanding Professors and Researchers). However, before he could retain us, he needed to confirm that his employer—a private American company—was willing to serve as the petitioner. Once he obtained the green light, he retained our services to help him get one step closer to a green card.

Putting together a good EB1B case:

We worked diligently to present an array of relevant information to the USCIS, most of which had to do with our client’s accomplishments as an electrical engineer. For instance, we noted the 18 peer-reviewed scientific articles (seven journal articles and eleven conference articles) to his name as well as the 91 times his work was cited. We also noted the 40 times he had assessed the work of his peers. As only top-notch researchers are invited to judge the work of others, our client’s impressive peer review record spoke volumes of his respected standing in the field of electrical engineering.

Securing additional evidence:

Although we had accumulated a wealth of information pertaining to our client’s findings on the development, analysis, and implementation of novel algorithms for next-generation wireless communication systems, we needed further evidence that he is a strong researcher. We went about this by urging our client to reach out to other experts in the field for recommendation letters. Not long after we had helped our client shortlist potential recommenders, he returned with six signed letters, all of which advocated for the approval of his EB1B petition. This is what one of his recommenders had to say: “There are few others who have managed to rise to [Client’s] level in this field, so I have no hesitation in affirming that he is one of the uncontested leaders in his research specialty. Considering that he has outstripped even the most ambitious goals for a researcher in electrical engineering, it is plain to see that we can only expect the best from [Client] in the years ahead.”

Securing EB1B approval:
