On February 18th, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Professor in the Field of Dentistry (Approval Notice).
General Field: Dentistry
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Professor
Country of Origin: Korea
Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Korea
Approval Notice Date: February 18th, 2020
Processing Time: 18 months, 9 days
Case Summary:
With a Ph.D. in Dentistry and many years of experience working in the same field of, our client decided that the time had come for her to secure a green card. She approached North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) for help with the first step of the green card process: filing an I-140 petition. After evaluating her credentials, we determined that she would be a suitable candidate for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). These are some of the key points included in her petition:
- We noted the 20 peer-reviewed journal articles (8 of them first-authored) to her name, all of which were published in well-known scientific journals. The dissemination of our client’s work via journals ensured that various researchers around the world had access to her findings, and thus, are able to work collectively to progress the field as a whole.
- Thanks to Google Scholar and other reliable sources such as Scopus, we determined that our client’s work had been cited 69 times at the time of filing. This proved to the USCIS that her findings impact the work of other researchers.
- To back up our argument that our client deserved the national interest waiver, we included recommendation letters volunteered by six other experts in the field. According to one of them: “Her research reveals a major shortcoming in vitamin-containing dentifrices and provides valuable information for the improvement of these products. Her accomplishments in dental health have set her career apart from the standard and demonstrated her exceptional talent as a researcher.”
- We were able to prove to the USCIS that our client’s investigations on the treatment and mitigation of halitosis, as well as other detrimental issues that affect oral health is important to the US because oral health is closely related to overall health.
After waiting for about 18 months and 9 days, the USCIS finally granted their approval. The reason it took so long for our client to attain the petition approval is because her NIW was issued a Request for Evidence (RFE). However, our stellar team prepared a strong response to it, which led to case approval. Not only did we convince the USCIS that our client’s credentials were legitimate, we also reiterated that she is an asset to the United States. We congratulate our client for surpassing this milestone and we wish her the best with the final step in the green card process. In conclusion, we would like to thank our client for believing in our services and we wish her a bright future here in the United States.
