Client’s Testimonial:
“I very much appreciate your all support and help. I knew that I’ve chosen the right partner, your company, to go through this whole process.”
On September 1st, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Assistant Professor in the Field of Computer Science (Approval Notice).
General Field: Computer Science
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Assistant Professor
Country of Origin: South Korea
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Ohio
Approval Notice Date: September 1st, 2020
Processing Time: 6 months, 28 days
Case Summary:
North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) was approached by an assistant professor to help him file an I-140 petition. Armed with a Ph.D. in computer science and coupled with extensive experience in the same field, our client seemed like a good candidate to secure EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval. Once we had affirmed his credentials and both parties had agreed to the terms of the contract, we went about building a strong case for him.
Our priority was to highlight his achievements to the adjudicating authorities and to prove that he deserved the national interest waiver. We did this by focusing on his impressive research. Here are some of the details we included in his NIW petition packet:
Research Results:
Our client’s work was focused primarily on developing graph-based detection algorithms and trust management schemes that analyze network behavior patterns in order to improve cybersecurity. The exceptional credentials of our client made it easy to convince the USCIS that his research in his area of expertise is of great importance because it ensures the safety and security of wireless network systems, which have become increasingly vital in areas such as healthcare monitoring, environmental monitoring, online commerce, and much more.
Our client’s remarkable publication and citation record also deserved special mention: at the time of filing, his publications included 1 peer-reviewed journal article and 5 peer-reviewed conference articles (all of them first-authored), and these had altogether amassed 73 citations. Moreover, these papers have been published in the top journals in the field of computer science, reflecting his peers’ recognition of the value of his research.
Recommendation Letters:
It was imperative that we included letters of recommendation into the presentation. Based on our advice, our client managed to secure five such recommendation letters from other highly renowned experts. The words contributed by an assistant professor read:
“Any research that can thwart cyberattacks and defray the enormous costs of cybercrime has immense value for the U.S. economy and national security, and this is especially true with respect to the uniquely vulnerable decentralized networks that [client] studies.”
Collectively, all five recommendation letters clearly expressed the benefits of allowing a researcher of our client’s caliber to work in the United States.
Taking the Final Step:
After collecting all the relevant documents, we filed the NIW petition on our client’s behalf. Exactly 6 months and 28 days after we filed his case, he received notification of case approval. We congratulate our client for overcoming this significant hurdle in the lengthy process, and we thank him for choosing us for his NIW application.
