General Field: Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Associate Professor

Country of Origin: China

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: China

Approval Notice Date: April 8th, 2021

Processing Time: 20 months

Case Summary:

An associate professor from China needed the help of our skilled services in constructing his EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition. With over 16,000 approved cases, North America Immigration Law Group is specialized in leading our clients to get closer to green card success.
When our client hired us, we carefully began to evaluate his documentary evidence and noted that he held a Ph.D. in economics with many years of substantial experience in the same field, intending to pursue his research on international and environmental economics by securing a position at an American institution which will further allow him to investigate how to improve governments’ environmental regulation policies to better facilitate pollution reduction.

After a thorough assessment, we were sure that he deserved the national interest waiver, and we aimed to persuade USCIS of his expertise in the Chinese economy and stated policy, which is critical to the United States as China is the United States’ direct competitor in the global economy, and a positive and acquainted trade relationship is integral to a prosperous global economic and administrative environment. Along with his research brief and its significance, we detailed all his achievements to the adjudicating authorities of USCIS.

His petition packet consisted of the following details:

  • We recorded the remarkable 15 peer-reviewed journal articles (8 of them first-authored) he published in some of the most prominent journals, which requires scrutiny from peers to be approved for publication. Therefore, his work altogether amassed 79 citations from his peers and colleagues, proving the caliber of his work in this area.
  • In addition, we detailed that our client has also been entrusted with peer review duties, and he has proved his elevated status in his field as a peer reviewer by conducting 9 peer reviews for highly acclaimed journals. This further confirms that his peers recognize his prowess in the field. Not only did he serve as an active peer reviewer in the field but his wisdom and experience have also been recognized through his appointment to several leadership positions, including as an editorial board member, director, and etc., evidently these roles reflect our client’s vital role in the field of economics.
  • To acknowledge the relevance and value of his work, he has also been granted funding from leading agencies, including an award from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China under the Ministry of Science and Technology. These grants are reserved for research directly addressing critical predicaments in science and technology, and thus these funding grants signify the utmost importance of his research.

Moreover, we incorporated five recommendation letters in his presentation. As per our advice, he obtained these letters from fellow renowned experts in the field, supporting the importance of his research background.

Successfully, our client secured eligibility for a national interest waiver, and his petition got approved despite the long wait. We are genuinely happy that our client entrusted our law firm with his I-140 application, and we thank him for cooperating with us throughout the process.
We congratulate our client for advancing in his preferred field.

On January 22nd, 2021, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Field of Agricultural Economics (Approval Notice).

General Field: Agricultural Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Postdoctoral Researcher

Country of Origin: Bangladesh

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Delaware

Approval Notice Date: January 22nd, 2021

Processing Time: 8 months, 5 days

Case Summary:

A postdoctoral researcher, highly skilled in the field of agricultural economics, appointed North America Immigration Law Group to represent him by constructing an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his part. We evaluated his academic background and intended research work. His profound experience in the field of agricultural economics made him a fitting candidate for the national interest waiver. We started building his case and to demonstrate it further, we included the following required details in his I-140 NIW petition:

  • We noted that his proposed research is to investigate the role of behavior in environment-friendly technology adoption and natural resource management and estimate the impact of technology adoption using a combination of economic theory and statistical methods to improve agricultural farm productivity, achieve food security, and ensure food safety while maintaining environmental and health quality. His research is therefore of great importance because it contributes to global food security.
  • We observed that he has established an impressive background of publication during his time working in the field, displayed by his peer-reviewed journal articles, conferences, reports, research papers, and book chapters in the field of agricultural economics.
  • In further evidence of his acknowledged expertise in the field, we mentioned that he has already conducted a good number of reviews for highly acclaimed journals. This significant peer-review activity proves our client’s remarkable expertise in this area.
  • After a diligent run through his research, we added five recommendation letters acquired by our client from fellow-experts in the field to support all of his provided testimonies. Two of the recommenders described his work as:

“[Our client’s] work has shown that the adoption of genetically modified crops leads to the use of fewer pesticides and increases crop yields. It provides farmers and other agricultural experts with evidence that genetically modified crops are a useful tool for protecting crops from pests without damaging the environment and polluting the water and air that people in the United States need to survive.”

“His research has revealed crucial errors in the dominant method of predicting household economic decision-making. [Our client’s] discoveries have improved the ability of researchers in his field to more proficiently study the global economy.”

Our client was successfully granted the NIW approval after the USCIS adjudicated his work and was convinced that his research contributes to the efforts that make agriculture more efficient and sustainable in the United States. We thank our client for choosing us and congratulate him on this milepost.

On August 20th, 2020, we received another NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Associate Professor in the Field of Economics (Approval Notice).

General Field: Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Associate Professor

Country of Origin: USSR (Russia)

Country of Residence at the Time of Filing: Russia

Approval Notice Date: August 20th, 2020

Processing Time: 15 months, 15 days

Case Summary:

An associate professor from Russia engaged the expert services of North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) to help him with the first step of the two-part green card process- filing an I-140 petition. After carefully evaluating our client’s credentials, we confirmed that he was a suitable candidate for EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver). As soon as our client signed and returned the contract to us, we got to work preparing a convincing EB-2 NIW presentation for him.

Establishing our client’s high standing in the field:

As with all our cases, we worked diligently to compile a wealth of information on our client’s accolades and accomplishments. For instance, we noted his Ph.D. in economics science, the 105 citations to his work and the 52 publications to his name. We also noted the 100 times our client reviewed the work of his peers. We established that not many other researchers can attain such effectual research results and that his findings on tourism development, finance and taxation, and information communications technologies in the hospitality industry is of great importance because of the growing global importance of the global tourism industry.

Gathering additional evidence:

To strengthen our client’s EB-2 NIW petition, we asked him to persuade his peers to help out. We needed them to sign recommendation letters that verified the importance of our client’s research not just to other researchers but to the nation as a whole. 4 experts agreed to advocate for the approval of our client’s EB-2 NIW petition, one of whom described his work as: “[Client’s] research benefits the realistic application of economic theory into modern business practices. By addressing prevalent economic conditions such as federal financial support and the effect of indirect taxes, he has bolstered the resources made available to both the public and the private sector. As а result, [client’s] research plays а hand in promoting economic prosperity in realistic economies. ”

Obtaining petition approval:

Although we presented a strong case to the USCIS, our client’s petition was issued a Request For Evidence (RFE). With our experience of securing over 16,000 I-140 approvals, we put together a solid response which eventually led to the case approval after 15 months and 15 days. We congratulate our client for overcoming such a significant hurdle in the green card process and we wish him well as he continues to progress the important field of economics.

On May 21st, 2019, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Associate in the Field of Economics (Approval Notice).

General Field: Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Associate

Country of Origin: Iran

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: California

Approval Notice Date: May 21st, 2019

Processing Time: 6 months, 8 days

Case Summary:

North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) recently received an approval notice for an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition that we filed on behalf of an Iranian associate with PhD in Economic Analysis and Policy. Our client’s research centered on analyzing the socio-economic impact of public policies, which holds significant implications for economic growth and prosperity for the U.S.

One of the first steps we took was to analyze our client’s credentials. First, we elaborated on his research that focuses on determining how government investments impact education, which is a fundamental factor of great value to the United States. In the petition letter, we noted his 4 peer-reviewed journal articles, 5 working papers, and 4 book chapters that showcased his consistent contributions to the field. The fact that these publications had been cited a total of 53 times at the time of filing proved that his work is of immense value to other researchers in the field. Besides, he had also conducted at least 6 peer reviews for several renowned journals and conferences.

In a bid to bolster our client’s EB-2 NIW petition, we urged him to ask other experts in the field of economics to furnish us with recommendation letters. Our client returned with six signed letters, all of which fortified our claim that he is doing important work for the country. According to one of his recommenders: “[Client] has applied his skills to advance the quality of life and prospects of struggling communities all over the world, especially those residing in developing countries. (…) [Client] is one of few economists who has devoted years of research to ascertaining the fiscal impact of refugees on the international trade of their host countries. His findings provide a crucial foundation for defining the most effective ways for refugees to participate in and benefit from the economies of their host countries”.

We are pleased that our diligent efforts lent a hand in case approval, and we congratulate our client for getting one step closer to a green card. North America Immigration Law Group (WeGreened.com) would like to thank him for placing his trust in us, and we wish him well as he continues to progress in the field of economics.

“Your firm has demonstrated great professionalism. I would love to recommend you to my friends.”

On September 13th, 2018, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for a Director in the Field of Finance (Approval Notice).

General Field: Finance

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Director

Country of Origin: China

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Pennsylvania

Approval Notice Date: September 13th, 2018

Processing Time: 2 months and 2 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

Just 2 months and 2 days after North America Immigration Law group (NAILG) filed a customized EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) petition for a finance company director from China, the USCIS approved her case. We believe that our highly detailed EB1A petition and unprecedented insight into USCIS adjudication trends played a crucial role in case approval.

Our legal strategy involved focusing on our client’s contributions to the fields of finance and business. Unlike cases that involve researchers and other experts working in the scientific arena, we did not focus on citations or publications. In this case, we listed our client’s leading role in the field of finance, prizes and awards she had received in recognition of her excellence in the field, and her major business contributions. One of our client’s most prominent accomplishments involved the founding of two major finance companies which benefited rural areas in China. These companies helped numerous residents secure greater economic prosperity and created business opportunities on a local level.

Further, our client received outstanding entrepreneurship awards and was also named one of the Top 100 Outstanding Female Entrepreneurs in China. Such high-profile recognition from well-known industry institutions made it abundantly clear that our client’s work is of the highest quality and of significant important to the field of finance. Furthermore, our client had made multiple appearances in published media articles, both national and international, further proving her successful work in the field of finance.

To support her I-140 EB1A petition, we incorporated 6 recommendation letters volunteered by other industry experts. One of these recommenders stated, “[Client] is providing high-end investment advice and assistance…, providing international entrepreneurs and investors with the knowledge they need to succeed. […]This affords [Client] a high degree of financial security and an established customer base that together virtually guarantee the achievement of her business goals.”

Along with extensive documentation, we submitted a petition that demonstrated that our client had risen to the very top of her field of endeavor and had sustained national and international acclaim for her achievements. Although our client had a strong case, the USCIS issued a Request for Evidence (RFE), to which we promptly responded. We successfully dealt with all doubts about our client’s qualifications, and we are glad to list her case among our 10,000 success stories. We congratulate her on this win and thank her for retaining our Immigrant Visa Processing (IV Processing) services. To find out more about IV Processing, please visit http://www.wegreened.com/Immigrant-Visa-Processing.

“Thanks a lot!!”

On May 16th, 2017, we received another EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability) approval for an Assistant Professor in the Field of Finance (Approval Notice).

General Field: Finance

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Assistant Professor

Country of Origin: China

Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Outside the US

Approval Notice Date: May 16th, 2017

Processing Time: 12 days (Premium Processing Requested)

Case Summary:

A China-based assistant professor of finance, who holds a doctoral degree obtained from a prominent American university, contacted North America Immigration Law Group (NAILG) when he and his spouse decided that they wanted to secure US permanent residency. We started off by evaluating our client’s credentials to determine if he was suitably qualified for EB-1A (Alien of Extraordinary Ability). After a thorough assessment of his research and educational profile, we countersigned the retainer agreement and also noted the following points to be included in his EB1A dossier:

  1. Publication Record: At the time of filing, our client had already published 10 peer reviewed scientific articles in prominent scientific journals.
  2. Citation Count: We verified and confirmed that our client’s work had collected 121 citations when we filed his case.
  3. Peer-review experience: With the help of relevant documents, we were able to prove to the USCIS that our client had been invited to judge the work of his peers at least 13 times. This supports our argument that our client is a leading expert in the field of finance.
  4. Research Contributions: In order to strengthen our client’s EB1A case, we highlighted the various ways in which our client’s research benefits the United States. We emphasized his research and explained how it helps in the arena of American finance. We intended to prove to the USCIS that the applications of methodologies adopted by our client can lead to significant progress in a variety of areas such as investment, inflation, and risk management in the US.

Besides the key points mentioned above, we encouraged our client to collect recommendation letters from other financial experts. Among the 6 recommendation letters that were collected, the words of an associate professor are especially noteworthy: “[Client’s] personal commitment to excellence has understandably lifted him to the uppermost position in the research community.” So were the impactful words contributed by another professor: “So renowned is [Client] and his research, in fact, that he is among the most prominent researchers in the field.” Collectively, these 6 letters strongly supported our client’s authority in his chosen field of financial research.

Our client chose to file the prepared EB1A dossier with Premium Processing (PP). PP is a paid option offered by the USCIS whereby select petitioners willing to pay an additional $1,225 will have action taken on their cases within 15 days instead of 4-9 months. Sure enough, our client received notification of case approval in 12 days. We congratulate our client for securing EB1A approval, and we are pleased that he also entrusted us with the responsibility of filing I-485 applications for himself and his spouse. We guarantee them our continued support and look forward to helping them secure US permanent residence.

On February 1st, 2016, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for an Economist (Approval Notice).

General Field: Economics

Position at the Time of Case Filing: Economist

Country of Origin: Iran

Service Center: Texas Service Center (TSC)

State of Residence at the Time of Filing: District of Columbia

Approval Notice Date: February 1st, 2016

Processing Time: 5 months, 7 days

Case Summary:

An economist hired North America Immigration Law Group to file an EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. Our client’s M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Economics, years of experience in the field of economics, and 72 citations to his 8 journal publications made him a strong candidate for EB-2 NIW.

Our legal team worked hard to understand and account for our client’s investigations on economic trends, financial development, and economic growth patterns within different countries. We established that not many other economists with similar skills as our client are able to prove the benefits of remittances, policy recommendations for ways of promoting competition, and identifying the optimal level of financial development. We firmly demonstrated that our client’s insights address the United States’ concern regarding remittance outflows, i.e., money transfers from foreign workers to their native countries. Besides details on our client’s work, we also included several recommendation letters that he obtained from experts in his field. One of these experts wrote, “It is through understanding this economic relationship with other countries that the United States is able to best utilize its economic resources. [Client’s] work is central to this goal, making his continued work in economics a substantially impactful investment for the US.”

Our client recently retained our firm to file I-485 applications for himself and his wife. We thank him for retaining us and wish him the best in his continued career in economics.
